Ok I had a experience with the two cases and learned a few things as well. Bought a motor from someone that tried to use the earlier grizzly middle drive side case for a rhino. Then tried grinding it out. Well I went ahead and ordered rhino cases before tearing it down and this is what I found out after many parts comparing and research.
The earlier 02-04 grizzly cases are different where the main gear behind the middle drive runs. The older grizzlies had a 39 tooth gear where the new grizzlies and all rhinos run a 41 tooth gear. Therefore the older 02-04 cases can be ground out to accomodate the newer grizzly gear and rhino gear. Here is a short video showing what I found. If you have any questions just ask.
This should be a sticky!
